These are purely personal, and being ON so many panels and events, I missed a lot of stuff. So this is just from a very limited perspective.
This event could have been a failure. It could have flopped. And if it had, it might have been years before anyone attempted another female nerd con of this…
A lengthy discussion with me, Kieron Gillen, Erika Moen, Kurt Busiek, Greg Rucka, G. Willow Wilson, Jeff Parker, Jess Fink, Brandon Graham, Sana Amanat, and Rachel Edidin. Worth a read.
Nicely done.
DC announced that veteran comic writer Ann Nocenti will replace J.T. Krul on Green Arrow. Krul departed the book after issue three for another unannounced project. Nocenti is one of the few women to write Batman for DC Comics. She was the writer of the four part mini-series Batman and Catwoman:…

If that ain’t just the best kind of yummy, nerdy synergy, well I don’t know what is. Mikey would crap his shell at seeing this.

So I checked out ‘Terra Nova’ last night on Fox, a show that has the potential to be nerdtastic. So far, I pretty much loved it. It’s obviously playing off of Lost’s success, but it definitely has its own elements. The show centers itself around a family who has been recruited into the past. And by the past I mean like, with dinosaurs all over the dang place.
They are not, unfortunately, this cuddly
Alex here, & I’ve been talking a bit about the awesome trio of humans who are now part of this tiny & geeky corner of Webtron-Land.
SO, without further ado, go ahead & CLICK HERE to get to know the new Nerd Goggle Bloggle team by learning a bit bout some of the things they love! Hooray!
Also, make sure to check HERE, THERE, & OVER HERE to read a little hello post from each of our peeps themselves. I highly recommend them.
With any luck, this blog will grow into the fun & thoughtful time-fill we all hope it will be, & maybe even (gasp) some of you loverly people out there on the intarwebs might even read it! woooooooo
All we can do is hope our little nerdy hearts out, & have fun!
Viva Fabulae!

This is from Friday, but shhh.
Anyway, this is very exciting. Most of these books were sort of teetering on the fence for me, but Gail’s been cheerleading them for the better part of the month from a seemingly genuine place, so excitement is high!
Can’t wait to read the last batch! We’ve got some HUGE review/thoughts posts coming up yayyyyyyyy

Working on a write up of this whole Starfire/Catwoman sex object debacle*, but this tweet from the now infamous “SDCC Batgirl” grabs a great point. The same can be said about Catwoman’s entire title: “I don’t care that Catwoman has sex, or even if she does with Batman, what hurts is that the entire book serves to flog about with it. …that & her breasts.”
*(Though I’m not sure I can manage to even come close to the tour de force that was Laura Hudson over on Comic Alliance. I’m not quite as doom & gloom about the subject as she is—I rather think the issue is ejecting writers such as this & rewarding/finding more of the writers who get it right—but I completely understand where she’s coming from. If I weren’t enjoying about 1/2 of the relaunch greatly & conversely to the badness, I might feel somewhat similar.)
Viva Fabulae. Even when it’s tough.

I could pretty much post this every Wednesday for years & it’d be true, huh? That Ron Marx can cut it down, he can.
Truth!

This reminds me of Dave Kellett’s hilarious take on this in his comic strip Sheldon:
[Thoughts, Opinions, & Ruminations is what we here at the Nerd Goggles Bloggle use to denote a post of sort of often long-winded rambly thinking on a topic. I mean, yes, it sort of explains itself, doesn’t it? There will always be a standing & moderate SPOILER WARNING for anyone unfamiliar or not up-to-date on said topic. But if you are, please, Read On!]
First, since I’m still finding my sea legs on the big ol’ scooner that is bloggin’, I am going to go ahead & quickly throw out my thoughts on the DC Relauch altogether & Justice League #1, which came out LAST Wednesday. This will help to balance my lack of book-having.
Let us commence!

Soon, I will have others contributing to this blog to help keep it on some sort of schedule, branch out from being mainly comics, & other fun stuff! My personal-life-zone has leveled out a little bit, so I can now make a go for a fun & time-filling nerd blog after my experimental dry run last month. There’s a lot to talk about in comics with the DC Relaunch, X-Men events & all-around great stuff coming out from more than 6 companies, & there’s plenty else going on in all other kinds of mediums!
I might even combine this Tumblr with a Blogger site or something to facilitate comments from all of of you Imaginary Readers, & because I like their UI a little better. Maybe one day my nerdly compatriots & I will even feel like grabbing a proper address for this puppy. We’ll see!
Anyway, expect some fun features, reviews, thoughts, & perhaps even a podcast soon. All because I feel like having an outlet to discuss the things I enjoy. weeeeeeee
Viva Fabulae!

(Secretly this post was just an excuse to post this George Perez piece. I’ve been wanting to read the Busiek/Perez run on Avengers so bad lately, but they’re all packed up in a relative’s house because I have very little room in my current place beyond the 9 “current” longboxes. Le sigh.)

This is going to be a super weird team/book! Hope it works out. Too excited about seeing Plastic Man to worry though. He’s been sorely missed.

About to head out to a midnight opening to get FLashpoint #5 & Justice League #1!
This is it!
I’ve spent the last few weeks saying goodbye to Old DC & trying to stay pumped for this! I can’t believe it’s here already!
Also, I’m BACK!
Reviews surely to come! WIsh me luck, I’ve never been to a midnight thing that wasn’t for a movie. I don’t know what to expect.
Though part of me expects a bunch of tired nerds shuffling in & out & mumbling things at one another. Pretty much what you’d expect from a comic shop at 12am.
Okay!
TO THE FUTURRRRrrrrrreeeee…
